The Author
Christopher G. Covert, was born in Northern Florida in 1979, the second son to Rickey and Lee Ellen Buie Covert. After his parents separated when Christopher was two-years-old, he and his older brother, Richard, were raised by their mother.
Christopher attended grammar school in Jacksonville, Florida at Sacred Heart, under the diocese of St. Augustine.
His Grandmother, R.L. Buie, an English professor, instilled in him the importance of not simply literature, but fine literature. The Classics. "The good stuff." Covert says.
In 1994, he relocated to Sacramento, California, where he lived with relatives and completed his schooling.
He began writing poetry while in high school, and submitted a handful of poems to the high school campus paper, all were published.
Christopher is of Cherokee Indian and Irish descent. He is also cousin to the Aviator, and the later reclusive billionaire, Howard Hughes. Covert, stands at 6'4" with a thin narrow frame and deep brown penetrable eyes. Referring to his brown hair speckled with silvery strands, Covert, playfully says, "That's the silver lining. It shines by night."
Writers/artists that he admires: Polish composer and pianist, Frédéric Chopin; Lebanese American artist, poet, and writer, Kahlil Gibran; 19th Century French poet, Arthur Rimbaud; Salzburg, Austria composer, Wolfgang Mozart; Moscow, Russia novelist, Fyodor Dostoevsky Chilean poet, Pablo Neruda; German composer and pianist, Ludwig van Beethoven; and all would not be complete without mention of the flamboyant and often astute, American novelist, Truman Capote.
In the fall of 2010, Christopher had begun tying up the ends to what would become his first published collection of work: HANDS on FIRE.
Since its released in April of 2011, Covert has embarked on a new journey, writing a short novel. He is also in the midst of a second work of poetry titled: PETALS & POEMS.
